1. Go to Google.com and type the keyword or
phrase that best describes your business. Note that when you start typing a
phrase, Google will automatically provide you a list of phrases that most
people are searching for. This will give you an idea on what phrases to target
for your keyword research. Please see an example screenshot below.
2. Next, note all these phrases related to your niche on
your computer notepad. You’ll be using it later on to look deeper into these
keywords and phrases.
3. Next go to Google again and type Google Keyword Tool in the search box. Click Google Keyword Tool – Adwords in the result. Please see screenshot
below.
4. Next is to paste the phrases from your notepad into the Find keywords box. You may toggle ‘Only show ideas closely related to my
search terms’ only if you want to be precise. Please see screenshot below.
5. Next step is to checkout the results and analyze them
according to the figures and competition. A high a competition means,
advertisers pays a lot on Google Adwords Network.
6. Checkout the Global Searches at the right column of the
results. You’ll immediately see the figures. For beginners you’ll have
difficulty determining where to start. A good range for Global Search is from
10,000 to 100,000. If you’re keyword or phrase fits the range then it’s a good
candidate.
Now that you learn the basic keyword research technique then
you should try to experiment on this. Checkout the Google Keyword Tool then
list all the keywords or phrases that’ll be a good candidate for your next
article.
It’s also a good technique to use phrase as domain name for
your website. This will be more targeted and would help your website rank on
Google Searches.
