This is a quick fix for laptop keyboard that malfunctions during key strokes to some keys. The problem of the laptop keyboard is that when you hit the letter "J" key it becomes "1", "I" becomes "5", "U" becomes "4", "M" becomes "0", "K" becomes "2", "O" becomes "6", "L" becomes "3", and "P" becomes "*". So if you type the word "JUMPS", you get "140*S" instead. Isn't that weird?
This is the first time I've ever encountered this type of laptop keyboard problem for so many years of dealing with computers. I thought I have to replace my Asus x80n laptop keyboard because when I tried the external keyboard, it works just fine. Good thing I was able to find the right answer and would like to share the simplest and quickest way to fix any laptop keyboard malfunction that shows the same problem.
You could save a lot of time of opening the Asus x80n and removing the keyboard just to clean it up. You should try this solution first.
Here's how:
1. Click the START button then click All Programs, then Accessories, then Accessibility, then the Onscreen Keyboard. So basically you're just using the onscreen keyboard. Please see the screen shot below.
2. Click the nlk once to turn it to gray, this means you're disabling its function.
